Dr. Galit Atlas
Galit Atlas discusses the subjects of sex and desire and explores the Enigmatic and the Pragmatic aspects of sexuality, longing and sexual inhibition. She will present narratives, therapeutic tales which illustrate both the analyst’s and patient’s erotic desires and anxieties, and the ways these interact and emerge in the consulting room.
Galit Atlas Ph.D. is a psychoanalyst and clinical supervisor in private practice in New York City. She is on the faculty at NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, faculty at the Four Year Adult and National Training Programs at NIP, and IEA. She serves on the editorial board of Psychoanalytic Perspectives, is on the board of directors of the Division (39) of psychoanalysis, APA, and is the author of articles and book chapters that focus primarily on gender and sexuality. Atlas writes essays elucidating psychoanalysis for the general public, published in the New York Times, Tablet and more. Her book "The Enigma of Desire- Sex, Longing and Belonging in Psychoanalysis" will be published in November. Her next book co-authored with Lewis Aron is to be called Dramatic Dialogue: Contemporary Clinical Practice.
